Subject: Zero-esque
I'm not sure why there's the comparison of Sfunk to Soulive, since they really don't sound very similar. If anything, I'd put Sfunk in the same line as Zero. Soulive is far too heavy on the cymbel percussion, and not enough on using all the different drums. Sfunk, on the other hand, uses drums quite well. The keyboards are great, the [horns] are great, guitar & bass too. Overall, a very good listen with a groove!

Fellow Musician. These guys are Funkin it up.
It's hard to appreciate music if you don't understand what goes into it. Good funky jams, Great SBD quality. Check it out and create your own opinion.

Subject: First time listener
This is the first time Ive heard any of their stuff and I like it. True, its not Soulive but its very funky and the horns are cool as hell. Very tight and worth the listen!

I get so burnt out on all of the dominating vocals that seem to be plaguing genuinely dynamite jam sessions. Not here though, this is good through and through. IÂd love to see you live  MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

Oh and coming from a recorder this is really impressive quality

Subject: I agree with Brad
As a musician myself I can really appreciate the musicianship of this band. Tight grooves, tastey solos, well-chosen material. A real fun band. My Ipod says that this band has more play time than most of my other stuff. I'm on the same page with Brad!!

Subject: Ouch
widebody> "This is the second show that I've downloaded from these guys and I just don't get it. A wonderful SBD recording wasted on a tepid band"

Ouch. Ordinarily I ignore stuff like this, but it bugs me because I know the band stops in here once in awhile and reads these.

IMO, this band is a ton of fun even if they might not be widebody's choice (Soulive). They play small bars and clubs, and the gathering of fans enjoys the groove. I dig small bands, I hope they keep playing.

This is the second show that I've downloaded from these guys and I just don't get it. A wonderful SBD recording wasted on a tepid band. Sounds like the soundtrack for a made-for-TV movie. There's laid-back and then there's DULL. . . Not recommended!

Show has been re-tracked, reprocessed and reuploaded. If you downloaded it prior to 4/26/2004 please grab it again. Thomas's note about song titles on 4/21 is now irrelevant (thank you for pointing it out though Thomas!).

Subject: Criss Cross Confusion
The track listed here as "Damn Right I'm Somebody" is actually Jimmy McGriff's great "Criss Cross".

Fantastic Set, though.

Cheers,
Thomas

ID tags added to the FLAC's using WinAmp v2.91

Opened for Zigaboo and the Aakesstra.

- Big Thanks to Gilad Gershoni for setting me up with a DSBD feed!

- Levels were run a little on the hot side, but clipping isn't too noticeable. I used WaveLab's "Change Gain" feature to drop it down 2%.
